So i have had my tx2000 tablet pc now for just over a year, love it, it's great, take it everywhere and there is nothing i can't do with it (oh yer games, it can't do them!!!)...

...then for a few days the notebook seemed to be getting rather hot even on a powr saving plan, so hot it would burn your leg, and yes it did have sufficient cooling because quite handily the air intakes and outlets are in the middle (between your legs) and on the sides. Then that problem seemed to go away, and has not been seen since.

A few days later during a sync the internal wireless card disconnected and could not be turned back on, so i rebooted... fan spins up, hard disk spins up, cd-rom checks, led's come on but black screen, so i turned it off removed battery, disconnected power supply left it for awhile then reconnected and tried again... nothing!!!

For the next few hours i reomved every single user accessible component from the machine, with intermittent success with POST and boot, but each time i restarted or the machine went into stand by the same thing, try for about 20 times to start, eventually it comes on and works perfectly (12 hours the one day).

Started searching for possible solutions to this issue and found that there are loads of sites with users experiencing exactly the same problem as mine with tx1000 (had one of those too, died about 1 week after purchase will on business trip to US, though that was the hard disk) and the tx2000 models.

Decided to contact HP via online technical unsupport and phone, and even though they knew straight away that the problem was wih the mobo, like so many others out there, i was told "it's out of warranty and any repair will be chargable".

Needless to say i am not very happy, although the machine works fine when it does come on, some times it does not come on at all... i have written this thread from the tx2000 as it decided to come on when i tried it on the off chance, but this is the last thing that will come out of this machine before i sell it off for spares, it's a darn shame, i have had no problems with it until now, but the mobo is a biggie and i am not paying for a repair tht is a manufacturing issue with thousands of these machines.

There was a time when i always bought HP, and recommended them to many of my friends and family, the company i used to work for only uses HP, but I will never buy another HP machine!

Same case. I used to love HP before, hence I bought a HP Compaq v3000 laptop and a HP Tablet tx2009au . Both of these had the Nvidea Go6150 graphics adapter. A year after buying the v3000 laptop, the wireless adapter failed and eventually the no display even when the computer seemed to be booting up. HP had provided a free repair for these laptops even outside warranty. I sent it and they returned it slowing down the computer and it started working like a P-3. It worked for a few days and again it went dead.

Now, again the same problem with the tablet PC. But, this time they have not provided for a free repair. Inspite of this problem being reported in thousands of forum threads. As I said before, HP has screwed us up big time. Never buy a HP again.

They are a joke, telling me i have to pay for a repair that is obvioulsy a common manufacturing problem with certain components in the machines...

...completely ruined my plan to go self employed, had to first save enough money to buy a new machine NOT AN HP ONE!!!!
